There are a myriad of activities that one can do at Chandelao. Chandelao village is a typical rajasthani village with a population of 2000 inhabitants. Typical activities include :
Jeep Safaris
Activities at Chandelao include Jeep Safaris where you are taken by Jeep to the nearby Dhanis (hutments) of the local village people. Enroute you can be sure to glimpse the Chinkara (an Indian Gazelle usually found in Western India).
Sun Downers
You are taken to a nearby rocky terrain where you can watch the sun set with its myriad of colours in this beautiful part of the Thar Desert. The beauty of the setting sun is complemented with beverages to augment the mood.
Village Walk
Chandelao Village is a typical Western Rajasthan village still caught in a time capsule. You can walk this village to get a first hand impression of the 'Real India'.
Camel Ride / Horse Ride
We can arrange Camel Ride/Horse Ride if a guest desires. This is also a wonderful way to experience the local scenery and get to know the typical village life up-close and personal.
Visit to the local Crafts Centre
Chandelao is home to a Crafts development and upliftment effort sponsored by Basecamp Explorer by the name of Sundar Rang. Visit this centre to see the arts and crafts of Chandelao and its people.
Visit to the Bazaars of Pipar
Any visit to Chandelao calls for a visit to the Bazaars of Pipar. The Pipar Bazaars have allways been famous for the local crafts and ethnic items only available here. Here you also visit the Block Printers.
Volunteer Work
Anyone wishing to do some volunteer work for the local village people of Chandelao may consider the following:
- You can teach English at the village school.
- Design dresses and learn sewing & embroidery with the ladies of Chandelao.
